An award-winning country park, originally built as the water source for the Rochdale Canal and developed as a tourist resort in the 1860s. Walk the whole lake in about an hour — nature trails, picnic areas, wildlife observation points and a café on the far shore. A much-loved beauty spot for families, couples and friends, all year round.
Wonderful cafés, bars and restaurants under two minutes' walk — seafood, Italian, British pub food, fish and chips, burgers and fries. Plus an arcade and ice-cream diner the kids will love.
Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre offers boat hire, sailing lessons, windsurfing and more. Seasonal pony trekking and horse riding too — check local websites for availability.
Blackstone Edge — incredible hiking and cycling — is a few miles away. Hebden Bridge is 20 minutes by car; the Brontë museum at Haworth about 40. Golf courses and canal walks close by.
